Through intimate conversations with artists, thinkers, entrepreneurs, and cultural outliers, we uncover the private turning points behind public identities — the breakdowns, reinventions, and personal codes that emerge when people choose to author their lives on their own terms.
Raised in a large family of 8 in the suburbs of Palmdale, California, Eugena grew up surrounded by people.
“I felt like I had 7 clones as we did everything together as a group — all the boys had to play football and all the girls had to be cheerleaders. That’s how Mom kept up with all of us.”
Eugena learned early that defining her personal identity had to be an intentional act — one rooted in curiosity, independence, and the willingness to question what’s been handed to you.
“That’s where I developed an awareness of the forces that shape our lives — family dynamics, societal pressures, and cultural expectations. But I decided to create my own expectations, and allow those to be the only ones that matter.”
Eugena’s years in modeling and entertainment introduced her to another kind of structure — industries built on image, aesthetics, and perception.
Moving through these spaces gave her a rare vantage point into how culture constructs beauty, femininity, and identity for public consumption.
“It’s interesting, because my work made me visible — yet so much of that visibility was built on someone else’s interpretation of who I was.”
At its core, her work became an act of living inside of someone else’s narrative — one she would eventually outgrow.
This chapter of Eugena’s career tested her ideas about identity in a deeply public way.
By entering a space historically defined by narrow standards of beauty, she challenged long-standing norms from within.
“I wanted to prove that Black women could thrive in spaces reserved mostly for white women.”
That curiosity eventually became The Velvet Room — a cinematic conversation series exploring identity, beauty, sensuality as power, and personal evolution.
As a creative producer, cultural commentator, and host, Eugena creates space for honest dialogue about the moments that reshape a life — and the personal codes people develop when they choose to define themselves.
Through her work, she encourages people to cultivate clarity, self-trust, and the confidence to author their own lives.
